“Dining with Diabetes” is a webinar event that focuses on the current nutritional research and ongoing practice to prevent and manage diabetes. The event will bring together the leading professionals in diabetes research to share their knowledge, experience and expertise on diabetes issues.

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing chronic diseases in Australia. All types of diabetes are complex and require daily care and management. Research has shown that having a healthy diet can help prevent Type 2 Diabetes, managing existing diabetes, and prevent or slow the rate of development of diabetes complications. With nearly 1 in 11 adults having diabetes worldwide and numbers rising every year, it’s never been more important to raise awareness of the ways nutrition and lifestyle factors can help manage or reduce the risk of diabetes.

We are delighted to be joined by two extremely passionate and experienced panel speakers:

  • Dr Alan Barclay is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist, author, researcher, media spokesperson and qualified chef. He worked at Diabetes Australia – NSW from 1998 – 2014 as Head of Research, and the Glycemic Index Foundation as Chief Executive/Scientific Officer, from 2006 – 2016, and is now a consultant. He has co-authored more than 30 peer reviewed articles and has presented his research at scientific conferences around the globe. He is the co/author of 5 books including The Good Carbs Cookbook, The Ultimate Guide to Sugars and Sweeteners, and Reversing Diabetes.
  • Professor Grant Brinkworth is a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO and Board Director at the Glycaemic Index Foundation. He has a PhD in nutrition and exercise science with more than 20 years’ experience leading large-scale clinical studies. His research interests include developing and translating effective nutrition, lifestyle and technology solutions for weight, metabolic disease and type 2 diabetes management.
