| Lean mince (beef, pork, or lamb) | 500g |
| Brown onion, diced | 1 |
| Garlic crushed | 1 teaspoon |
| Carrot, diced or grated | 1 |
| Flour | 1 tablespoon |
| Water | ¾ cup |
| Tomato paste | 1 tablespoon |
| Worcestershire sauce | 1 teaspoon |
| Beef stock cube (salt reduced) | 1 |
| Potatoes, peeled and chopped | 3 large |
| Milk | ¼ cup |
| Butter | 1 tablespoon |
| Grated cheese | ¾ cup |
Method

In a large pan, heat the oil over a medium heat. |

Add lean mince, diced onion, crushed garlic, and carrot. Stir until mince is browned. |

Simmer uncovered for 2-3 minutes, then stir in flour. |

Stir in the water, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and stock cube. Bring the mixture to the boil. |

Add a little extra water if mixture is too dry. |

Spoon mixture into a casserole dish. |

In a pot, cover the potatoes with water and bring to the boil. Cook until potatoes are tender. |

Drain the potatoes, add the milk and butter and mash. |
|

Spread mashed potato over the mince mixture and top with grated cheese. |
|

Grill until golden brown, allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving. |
