Given its ongoing success, Nutrition Australia NSW has held its National Nutrition Week Breakfast at Parliament House in Sydney again this year. The event was outstanding, hosted by Mr Mark Coure MP, Member for Oatley, Assistant Speaker with special guest The Hon. Natasha Maclaren-Jones MLC, Parliamentary Secretary for Health.

A panel was also present which weighed in on key nutritional public health issues including the obesity epidemic and Australia’s drinking culture.

This included

  • Prof Jennie Brand-Miller, PhD, AM FAA, Professor of Human Nutrition at the University of Sydney
  • Mr James Griffin, MP Member for Manly, Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment
  • Prof Jacqui Webster, PhD, RPHNutri – Head, Public Health Advocacy and Policy Impact Centre Director, WHO CC Salt Reduction, Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine, UNSW Sydney Honorary Associate Professor, University of Sydney

Other guest speakers also included Ms Talei Presland BPhEd, BSc (Nutrition), PGDipDiet – Medical Affairs Director Nutricia

The event was moderated by John Mangos, Journalist and News Presenter.
