The Committee of Management is volunteer based and currently has committee members with experience in policy, education, regulation, clinical dietetics, research and health promotion programs.
Gillian Duffy – Chair
Bachelor of Applied Science, Graduate Diploma of Nutritional Science, Master of Nutrition.
Gillian is the Chair of the ACT Committee of Management, and also represents Nutrition Australia ACT Division on the National Board of Directors. Gillian is a Senior Nutritionist at Food Standards Australia New Zealand. Gillian represents Nutrition Australia ACT Division on the National Board of Directors.
Kathryn Kavner – Secretary
Bachelor of Marketing and Operations with a Minor in Environmental Studies
Kathryn is a brand marketer focused on food innovation and brand strategy. She now enjoys consulting in the food industry where she leverages her deep understanding of consumer trends in the rapidly changing food industry to help clients bring unique products to market that help people live healthy, sustainable, vibrant lives. She joined Nutrition Australia to learn more about improving health and wellbeing through nutrition education and outreach.
Allison Wood – Committee member
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Laws, Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education, and Diploma of Nutrition.
Allison is currently undertaking a Masters in Ecological Public Health. Prior to this, Allison worked as a lawyer and senior policy advisor for the Australian government focusing on law reform and complex policy development and implementation within the Attorney-General’s portfolio. Along with Gillian, she also represents Nutrition Australia ACT Division on the National Board of Directors.
Bradley Tarrant – Committee member
Bachelor of Human Nutrition.
Brad is currently studying a Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Science at University of Canberra and then plans on undertaking a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. Brad has worked for ACT Health in the Community Care Nutrition division as the Nutrition Allied Health Assistant, and is fascinated with all areas of nutrition with a particular interest in chronic disease management.
Elysha Nheu – Committee member
Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accredited Practicing Dietitian.
Elysha has worked as a dietitian in various health care settings. Since moving to Canberra, Elysha volunteered with Nutrition Australia ACT and, soon after, joined the ACT Committee of Management. Elysha is currently at the Australia Government Department of Health.
Sarah Cooper – Committee member
Accredited Practicing Dietitian
Sarah has worked in community, public health and clinical nutrition in the ACT and has an interest in improving nutrition in mental health and disability settings.
Bachelor of Human Nutrition, Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accredited Practicing Dietitian.
Deanna has worked as a clinical and food service Dietitian throughout many areas of Canberra Health Services. Deanna is currently a clinical and food service Dietitian at the University of Canberra Hospital and has a special interest in menu reviews and working in the kitchen environment.
Leanne Elliston – Public Officer
Bachelor of Science, Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accredited Practicing Dietitian
Leanne is the Program Manager of Nutrition Australia ACT Division, and represents the ACT Division on the Nutrition Australia Senior Staff Committee. Leanne has a special interest in childhood nutrition and also runs a part-time private practice.
