The Committee of Management is volunteer based and currently has committee members with experience in policy, education, regulation, clinical dietetics, research and health promotion programs.
Gillian Duffy – Chair
Bachelor of Applied Science, Graduate Diploma of Nutritional Science, Master of Nutrition.
Gillian is the Chair of the ACT Committee of Management, and also represents Nutrition Australia ACT Division on the National Board of Directors. Gillian is a Senior Nutritionist at Food Standards Australia New Zealand. Gillian represents Nutrition Australia ACT Division on the National Board of Directors.
Sarah Cooper – Secretary
Accredited Practicing Dietitian
Sarah has worked in community, public health and clinical nutrition in the ACT and has an interest in improving nutrition in mental health and disability settings.
Bradley Tarrant – Committee member
Bachelor of Human Nutrition, Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Science
Brad has previously worked for ACT Health in the Community Care Nutrition division as the Nutrition Allied Health Assistant, and is currently studying a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at University of Canberra. Brad is fascinated with many areas of nutrition, with a particular interest in chronic disease management, nutrition and brain health, and health promotion.
Elysha Nheu – Committee member
Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accredited Practicing Dietitian.
Elysha has worked as a dietitian in various health care settings. Since moving to Canberra, Elysha volunteered with Nutrition Australia ACT and, soon after, joined the ACT Committee of Management. Elysha is currently at the Australia Government Department of Health.
Michelle Minehan – Committee member
Bachelor of Applied Science, Master of Nutrition & Dietetics, Graduate Certificate Higher Education, Doctor of Philosophy
Michelle is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Advanced Sports Dietitian with over 25-years experience working in elite sport and education. She currently holds an academic position at the University of Canberra while consulting to various sporting, community and government groups. Michelle has previously worked as a sport dietitian and Manager Clinical Services (Nutrition) at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Julie Priestley – Committee member
Julie has over 40 years’ experience in nutrition and dietetics within hospital, government, private practice, research and community settings in the Canberra and Melbourne regions. Prior to retiring, she worked as a Nutrition and Dietetic clinical educator at the University of Canberra. Julie enjoys attending the gym regularly, bush walking, singing in choirs and has an interest in environmental issues.
Lauren Resnick – Committee member
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Wits University, South Africa), Master of Science in Public Health Nutrition (Chester University, United Kingdom)
Lauren has extensive medical and research knowledge, working as a medical doctor and a clinical research physician for many years. She is currently working at ACT Health as a preventive and population health policy officer. She is passionate about health, nutrition, communication and helping people live healthier lives and regularly participates in voluntary nutrition projects to support healthier communities.
Leanne Elliston – Public Officer
Bachelor of Science, Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accredited Practicing Dietitian
Leanne is the Executive Officer of Nutrition Australia ACT Division, and represents the ACT Division on the Nutrition Australia Senior Staff Committee. Leanne has over 20 years experience in community, clinical and public health nutrition. She has a special interest in childhood nutrition and also runs a part-time private practice.
