Thank you for considering volunteering with Nutrition Australia Vic Division. We greatly appreciate volunteers who generously give their time, skills and knowledge to help us inspire healthy eating.

Volunteering with Nutrition Australia provides you with an opportunity to develop your skills and gain valuable insight to public health nutrition.

* Opportunities to volunteer in South Australia and Tasmania are organised through the Vic division. However, volunteer opportunities in those states are very rare.

Meet our volunteers.

Please be advised - we have very limited volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.

Volunteers may be involved in the following types of work:

One off activities
Very limited opportunities available, 10-12 per year.
These activities usually require a 4-6 hours over one or two days. Type of activities include food preparation, recipe testing, event assistance, admin support.

A Project volunteer is appointed on an as-needs-basis. We may have 5-6 projects per year requiring volunteer assistance. Projects can be short or long term but often require a commitment of four hours per week over a number of weeks, to achieve specific project outcomes. Projects may include research, evaluation, reviewing or writing content.

Ongoing roles (usually 13 week commitment)
Generally requires volunteers who have some office administration skills &/or experience who wish to continue developing their business skills. Ongoing roles can depend upon the volunteer’s particular skills or interests and include weekly front desk shifts, mail outs, communications or acting in a general support role for our teams.
We have four intakes per year; January, April, June & September. We take approx. five people per intake.

Am I eligible?

To volunteer with Nutrition Australia Vic Division, you’ll need the following:

  • A current National Police Check (or Working with Children Check or current Teacher registration)
    We accept existing documentation if it’s no more than 12 months old. If you require a new Police Check, please complete the Expression Of Interest form below to be sent an application form which qualifies you for a discounted rate. Online checks can also be submitted.
  • Evidence of safe food handling knowledge
    You can provide an accredited food safety course certificate or do a free short online module from the Victorian Department of Health. Visit http://dofoodsafely.health.vic.gov.au (A 100% pass rate required).
  • A valid email address and ability to access email
  • Good oral and written English comprehension skills
  • Eligiblity for a Medicare card (permanent residents, for insurance purposes).

Please note: Nutrition Australia members are given preference for dietetic / nutrition based roles. Click here to become a member.

Volunteers are responsible for organising their own Police Check and/or Working with Children Check.
Applicants may be interviewed by phone and reference checked by the supervising staff member prior to an offer of volunteer engagement.
